Follow Up - Vigilance Study

Hello everyone,

Today a request for an emergency meeting was sent to ADM, Transport Canada and CATSA on the vigilance/working conditions issue.

The current situation still not being fixed by Securitas’ initiatives , we demand actions by Transport Canada to ensure the safety of passengers and provide screeners with working conditions that allow them to maintain a high level of vigilance throught their work shift.

Despite the promises of Securitas for the implementation of "rovers" to cover 2 minutes (toilet) yesterday several members still reported problems. If some of you are no longer able to guarantee the quality of screening due to working conditions or for any other reason, it is important to take the time to report it to your supervisor. SSM and "senior managers" will be in the checkpoint at all time.

Discussions were also held with staff from different agencies here at YUL that share our concerns relating to passenger safety.

At the time of this writing, STAS stilled favored lowest possible waiting times at security checkpoints at the expense of the rest periods for screeners and coordinators.

As soon as we have more news, we will notify you.
