Update Negotiation

Share

Over the past few weeks, we have been asking you to wear shorts/jeans/trucks as a pressure tactic. It is important to note that this movement is being followed in all airports across Canada represented by the Steelworkers/USW (over 40).

Our actions are aimed at addressing STAS's lack of respect and recognition for its employees. Some of the irritants discussed with the employer at our last meetings include:

  • Inability to modify the CATSA attendance reward program (through this program they encourage our colleagues to come to work when they are sick, they penalize officers with holiday time, they force some of our colleagues (FCS/SCT) to take overtime, etc.)
  • Forced overtime
  • The numerous payroll errors and the inordinate delays in settling them
  • Increased workload and stress
  • The increase in the number of disciplinary notices issued by STAS
  • Transport time (commuting)
  • Raffles of STAS for weekends (it does not consider our night colleagues)

We would like to take this opportunity to announce that there will be a joint bargaining table with locals from all over Quebec and the Atlantic to negotiate certain monetary aspects with Securitas. More than 1200 pre-board screening officers will be represented through this joint committee. This mobilization is historic! We are stronger together!

We are waiting for STAS to confirm the next negotiation dates. We will keep you informed as soon as possible.

Other actions will come in the next weeks to express our discontent!

We are united more than ever! We deserve better!
