Northern assignment Posting

Share

Hello colleagues, the following is a memo from STAS about the northern assignment. Please be advised that there are points in this memo that will be discussed with the union before the new lists begin.

NOTICE: STAS expects to fill operational needs at certain northern airports through temporary assignments from YUL. These assignments will be open to employees certified as Screening Officers, and their terms and conditions are as follows:

Duration: The duration of assignments will be variable and determined by operational needs. Assignments normally vary in duration from 1 to 8 weeks. STAS plans to offer 8-week assignments
to the top ranks of newly created lists, based on status seniority rank. Employees who refuse an 8-week assignment will be offered the opportunity to complete a 4-week assignment without
penalty.

Schedules:

The work schedule will be determined by operational needs. The employee called for a temporary assignment will work a minimum of four (4) hours per day. However, these schedules may change at any time.

Requirements: Be certified as a screening officer and have no performance events, no active PER PIPs, and have completed all LMS/XRT activities. • Do not have a physical and/or schedule limitation active at the time of calls to select
agents for the next assignment.

MEMO Have a valid RAIC card and CATS medical form at the time of calls to select agents for
the next assignment.

- Have a good disciplinary record.

The agent is paid continuously for eight (8) hours per day for the duration of the assignment, regardless of the number of hours worked per day.

The agent receives an allowance of 8$ per hour and a per diem of 129$ per day.

Cargo or excess baggage charges are paid by STAS up to a maximum of 250$. Agents will be accommodated in fully furnished houses, either alone or accompanied by one or more colleagues.

Pool management:

A pool will be made up of volunteers who meet the above requirements, and the rank of agents within this pool will be determined by seniority of status, starting with full-timers
followed by part-timers. A 24-hour time limit applies to calls. If an employee does not respond within 24 hours of the call, he automatically loses his turn and is removed from the pool. An employee who refuses to fill an assignment without a valid reason (e.g., medical appointment, funeral, etc.) will be removed from the pool. -

Employees wishing to participate in a northern assignment have the option of cancelling their vacation and taking it later. However, an employee who wishes to keep his vacation does not lose his turn and will be contacted for future dates.

Pool creation:

Agents interested in being part of the 2023 Northern Assignment pool can apply via MYSTAS until August 4, 2023, at 11:59 pm.

All employees who were on the old volunteer lists and did not have a full assignment will get the first rank on the new lists created. The order of seniority will be full-time followed by part-time.
